Infertility is a condition affecting men and women’s capacity to conceive or women’s incapacity to carry a pregnancy to term.
The sterility diagnosis may be ascertained as a result of specialty analyses. Couples who have had unprotected sexual activity longer than a year without any ovule to be fecundate should take this tests.
There are many causes and effects of infertility. First of all the psychological effects must be emphasized, as it affects a couple’s life and a family’s harmony. Failure to conceive and to give birth to a baby affects both partners’ psychic very deeply, both emotionally and rationally.
Both partners may go through states of insecurity, anxiety or even depression. The stress and the frustrations caused by the situation affect all the aspects of a human life: inner balance, harmony of a couple, relationship with one’s own family and with the partner’s family, professional performance and development.
Causes
Failure to conceive shows major functional disorders in the body. In most cases, infertility occurs as a result of one or several factors.
Women
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Autoimmune diseases
- Pituitary gland and hypothalamus disorders
- Thyroid gland disorders
- Ovaries disorders
- Adrenals disorders
- Kidney and liver diseases
- Immature or prematurely aged sexual organs
- Diseases of the genital apparatus (endometriosis, fibromas, polycystic ovaries, fibromatous uterus)
- Uterine malformations, vaginal obstructions, vaginismus
- Anovulation (failure of the ovaries to produce, mature or release eggs)
- Genital apparatus infections
- Sperm antibodies
- Untreated or inappropriately treated infections by Chlamydia, Toxoplasma Gondi, Gonorrhea etc
- Complications resulted from abortion
- Inappropriate treatment with synthetic hormones
Men
- Diabetes
- Obesity
- Pituitary gland and hypothalamus disorders
- Thyroid gland disorders
- Adrenals disorders
- Kidney and liver diseases
- Immature or prematurely aged sexual organs
- Genital apparatus infections
- Untreated or inappropriately treated infections by Chlamydia, Toxoplasma Gondi, Gonorrhea etc
- Inappropriately treated childhood diseases – mumps
- Prostate or testicles function disorder (azoospermia, oligospermia)
- Genital trauma
- Impotence, premature ejaculation
- Treatment by inappropriate synthetic hormones
- Alcohol abuse and drug consumption
Prevention
A healthy sexual education should include the information on the risks that may occur when beginning the sexual life. Teenagers should be taught to deal with this aspect of their life in a responsible manner, as a slight mistake may cause sterility to set in.
Men should avoid alcohol abuse and drug consumption, tight and uncomfortable underwear, steroids and those medicines whose leaflet states that they may cause sterility.
Women should avoid coffee or alcohol abuse, drug consumption and they should use barrier contraceptive methods in order to prevent abortion and its complications.
Both sexes must treat in good time any kind of infection or diseases of the genital or urinary system. Where there are symptoms of a sexually transmitted disease, the patient must follow appropriate treatment from the very first stages of the disease. Moreover, he or she must undergo it until healing is confirmed by the specialist physician.
Treatment
The World Health Organization underwent a series of researches to establish the efficiency of the alternative therapies in the treatment of sterility. According to them, the success rate of IVF (in vitro fertilization) procedures increased by 60% in the female patients who had chosen this conception procedure and had also undergone acupuncture sessions.
Traditional medicine therapies restore the functions of those organs whose disorders have lead to sterility.
Where there are infections involved, the environment that encourages the presence of pathogenic microorganisms will be annihilated. When a pathogenic microorganism enters the body, disorders occur both at functional and energy level. Acupuncture restores the energy imbalances caused by the presence of the microorganisms and afterwards it cures their effects upon the body.
In the other cases, disorders occur as a result of stress or psychical shocks undergone by one of the partners. For women the connection between the function of the genital apparatus and the psychical condition is very strong. Therefore it is the first system that gives in under great stress.
Acupuncture and phytotherapy are acknowledged worldwide for their beneficial action upon the human psychic as well as for the patients’ emotional relaxation and balance. Annihilating the causes of nerve tension, the secretion of serotonin (also called “the hormone of happiness”) will increase at brain level. By this process are annihilated the neuroendocrine disorders that have led to infertility. At the same time, the cell oxygenation process that was initially reduced by the nerve tension is also intensified. Thus the hypooxygenation of the body is treated, the metabolic functions are restored and the environment that helped the development of pathogenic microorganisms is annihilated.
