Gall bladder cancer is the most common form of hepatobiliary cancer; it poses a high threat of invasivity and disemination, coupled with a high mortality risk. Despite these negative aspects, the treatment of gallbladder cancer in the traditional medicine gives chances of recovery, even where the metastatic process has begun. The association of several types of traditional therapies allows for the local treatment of the tumor and the elimination of the cancer cells from the body, as well as for the regeneration of the affected structures.
Usually, the origin point of the malignant process is located in the area of the mucous membrane (the gallbladder is made up of a three-layered wall: the mucous membrane – the inner layer, the muscular tissue – the middle layer and the serous tissue – the outer layer). Generally located at the bottom of the gall bladder, the tumor may diseminate locally, into the hepatic area, or into the transperitoneal area (liver, intestine and pelvis). Women and people above 64 years of age are prone to this type of cancer, especially if the patient has been previously diagnosed with inflammatory affections of the gall bladder or chronic biliary lithiasis. Other predisposing factors include: calcification of the gall bladder (porcelain gallbladder), ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, the action of certain chemical substances (exposure to heavy metals, radiations, chemical products used in professional environments, water pollutants, etc.), polypi at the level of the gall bladder and anatomical malformations of the pancreatobiliary ducts, estrogenism or estrogen-based medication.
In its former stages, the gallbladder cancer is asymptomatic. The first alarming symptoms for the patient occur after the onset of the malignant process, when there is even the threat of the malignant cells to disseminate to the neighboring organs and the regional lymphatic system. From that reason, over 50% of the patients found with malignant tumors of the gall bladder have disseminations of the cancer cells into the regional lymphatic ganglia.
Among the symptoms the patients complain of, there can be mentioned:
- abdominal pain or pain in the right hypochondrium
- abdominal distension
- feverish or febrile states
- nausea and vomiting
- tegumentary and sclero tegumentar jaundice
- pruritus
- loss of appetite
- significant weight loss
- dark-colored urine
- light-colored stools
Treatment
