The thyroid secretes metabolism-regulating hormones. Hypothyroidism occurs where very few hormones are secreted, as a result of a decreased activity of the thyroid. Yet again in this case the symptoms are almost unnoticeable: chronic fatigue, feeling of cold almost all the time, impossibility to lose weight, eczemas and acne. This disease also involves psychic disorder, manifested by chronic depression, nervousness, panic and lack of concentration as well. Two other important symptoms are impotence and sterility. Chronic constipation, loss of hair, tachycardia, crumbling nails, muscular fatigue and osseous pains are secondary symptoms.
Women suffering from hypothyroidism have menstrual disorders, respectively profuse, painful, interrupted menstruation, or, they have the opposite, scanty bleeding, early or late premenopausal syndrome. Immunity-related disorders, such as arthritis, cancer and cardiovascular diseases have a higher incidence in the persons whose thyroid hormone is defficient.
The low level of thyroid hormone doesn’t let the body produce enough warmth and therefore the patient has cold extremities.
Once the patient has been diagnosed with this disorder, he or she must go to a traditional medicine clinic. The traditional medicine specialist decides upon the treatment that must be followed, taking into account the patient’s characteristics and his or hers associated disease. The treatment will consist of acupuncture sessions; herbal extracts and alimentary diet during and after the treatment .
